Effective Writing Strategies

Teaching students how to beef up their writing

Effective Writing Strategies

Workshop Duration: 2 - 4 hours

Many teachers feel that they were never properly taught how to teach students to write. Teaching writing doesn’t come easy and can be a challenge; it is a process and takes time.  According to the National Education Statistics, there are roughly only 25 percent of students testing as proficient in writing. By the time students enter middle and high school, they’re expected to write “multi-paragraph essays containing formal introductions, arguments with supporting evidence, and conclusions.”  How do we help our writers develop ideas for writing? How can teachers make organizing writing more concrete for students? This workshop is designed to help simplify writing instruction to help your students become successful writers. You will leave the course with the practical knowledge and resources that will not only empower your writing instruction.

Get strategic.

The participant will:

  • Practice hands-on activities that promote effective writing

  • Take away engaging strategies to get even struggling writers to expand their idea development and organize their writing

  • Collaborate and share their ideas and practices in teaching writing

This interactive workshop is designed to help teachers develop, organize and consistently manage the learning environment. Strategies can be integrated into any grade level or content area. The course will provide ready to use ideas and strategies that can be integrated into any classroom setting and will impact student achievement.
